BLAST FROM THE PAST + NEW SOUNDS OF JAZZ
In this clip, saxophone legend Frank Morgan plays with up and coming be-bopper, just 15 in this clip, Grace Kelly. Sadly, Mr. Morgan passed away shortly after this video was taken. Let's hope more of the elder statesmen in jazz follow suit and encourage the young musicians to keep the music going.

GEORGE CABLES STARTS AT THE BLUE NOTE TONIGHT!
The George Cables Project, produced by Jill Newman Productions, was conceived in 2003 and has played in venues all over the world. On October 1, 2007, when the group was scheduled to debut at the Blue Note, Cables, who had been waiting for an organ transplant for months, was called into surgery. While the Project performed without him, Cables underwent a double-transplant and spent weeks in the hospital recovering. Now fully recovered, Cables will make his triumphant return to the Blue Note from March 3 – 4 and finally get the chance to debut The George Cables Project, featuring Gary Bartz and Jeff “Tain” Watts.
Below is a video of George Cables playing with the legendary Dexter Gordon and his quartet in 1979:

BLAST FROM THE PAST: MILES DAVIS QUINTET 1967 "WALKIN'"
The Miles Davis Quintet digs into this classic on November 7, 1967 at the Stadthalle, Karlsruhe, Germany. Notice how part of the magic of the Quintet was not only how accomplished each musician was at their respective instruments, which is displayed clearly here, but also how well they play together as a group.
