The inventor of the Mambo, Israel "Cachao" Lopez, who performed at the Blue Note numerous times in the past five years died on March 22 at the age of 89 as a result of kidney failure. If you have ever seen Cacaho, he looked like a kid on stage, and it seemed impossible that someone of his age could play with the energy he displayed. He will be missed.
